REBOBINANDO RECUERDOS. REVIVIENDO LO MEJOR. REWINDING MEMORIES. RELIVING THE BEST.

Rewindero is a place to rewind everyday memories: objects, trends, songs, candy, little things people no longer do, and small moments tucked away somewhere.

We don’t collect the past: we look at it again.

The site remembers, Rewindero brings it back to life, and the Rewinderos complete the circle.

Bazooka vs Cowboy: A Bubble Gum Duel

Bazooka was not just bubble gum. It had the pink piece, the sweet scent, the wrapper, the tiny comic, and that feeling that the candy started before the first chew.

Where I grew up, though, Bazooka was not alone. There was Cowboy too: another bubble gum from the candy counter, simpler and rougher in memory, but present enough to become part of the duel.

This is not a boring comparison. It is a candy counter fight with a school-break crowd watching. A small battle between two gums, two wrappers, two names, and one very serious question: which one won the mouth?

The bell rings

In one corner there was Bazooka: the one with the cool cap, the powerful sweet scent, the tiny comic, and the whole ritual folded inside the wrapper. In the other corner there was Cowboy: harder to tame, with a hat and a face that seemed to say, “you are not softening me that easily.”

Bazooka moves first. It does not throw a punch: it opens the wrapper. And that is enough. The sweet scent rises like candy-store fog, and Cowboy is already a little dizzy before the fight even starts. But Cowboy does not back down. It answers with a straight hit to the jaw, the kind that did not knock you out with flavor, but with effort. Chewing it was a mission. You had to tame it.

Bazooka takes one small step back, adjusts its cap, and brings out its secret weapon: the comic. That folded little paper made the gum begin before it was even in your mouth. Cowboy tries to laugh it off, but it is already too late. Between the scent, the ritual, and the comic, it ends up counting sugar stars.

And that is where the real duel begins, because Bazooka was not just a piece of gum. It was going out to buy it hoping there were still some left at the candy counter, getting your favorite flavor, coming back home, and carefully opening the ends so you would not tear the comic inside. You could feel that intense, unmistakable strawberry-and-something-else scent in the paper. Then you chewed the gum and read a little comic that made you laugh.

Cowboy, on the other hand, was the noble substitute: the one you bought when there was no Bazooka. You accepted it, but then the battle began: trying to soften it.

There was a duel between them, yes, but in my memory they were not fighting from the same place. Bazooka was the complete experience.

Cowboy was bubble gum too. It belonged to the candy counter too. It had its place. But for me, it arrived with a different energy: less ceremony, more jaw in gym mode.

The Cowboy I am talking about is not necessarily the one that appears in later images. It is the one I remember from the candy counter: simpler, more childish, harder to chew, and less loaded with ritual than Bazooka. Later it may have had more advertising, comics, albums, or whatever else, but it arrived late for me. By the time it tried to look more like a complete experience, I was already choosing other gums.

Cowboy could put on a new hat, but if it was still a sweet little rock, the duel was already lost.

Do you remember a bubble gum that made your jaw work harder than the flavor was worth?
