REBOBINANDO RECUERDOS. REVIVIENDO LO MEJOR. REWINDING MEMORIES. RELIVING THE BEST.

Rewindero is a place to rewind everyday memories: objects, trends, songs, candy, little things people no longer do, and small moments tucked away somewhere.

We don’t collect the past: we look at it again.

The site remembers, Rewindero brings it back to life, and the Rewinderos complete the circle.

Blowing on the Cartridge: A Gamer Ritual

Retro game cartridge held between two hands

The game before the game

You came home with a rented game in a little bag from the video store, walking faster as though the afternoon could not wait.

There was a very specific moment when the game had not begun yet, but the ceremony already had.

You turned on the console, your favorite drink was ready, the TV waited in silence and then, suddenly... nothing happened. A black screen, flickering lines, strange colors, no music, or a game frozen before it even started.

Behind you came the quiet murmurs and watchful eyes of the family: everyone paused, waiting for something to appear on the screen. Then came the inevitable move. You pulled out the cartridge, examined it like a NASA technician, blew into it with absolute faith, slid it back in carefully, adjusted it just a little, and turned the console on again.

Faith in the Blow

Nobody asked many questions or offered much of an explanation. You simply did it. We did not really know whether it worked, but everybody tried it. It was not science. It was a trick, a habit, a piece of household superstition. It was like telling the machine, “Come on, behave.”

Back then, plenty of things did not work on the first try. You had to insist, adjust them, move them slightly, and learn their particular quirks. Blowing on the cartridge was not just an attempt to fix the console. It was part of the game before the game.

Objects seemed to have personalities back then. You had to learn what kind of mood they were in.

Did you blow on game cartridges too, or did you have another trick to make them work?
